OUR STORY

The pain of gun violence is one I know intimately and personally. Each time I hear of another shooting, it reopens the deep wound of losing my beautiful and extraordinary daughter, Detective Tanisha "Tookie" Pughsley. Tookie served proudly as a detective with the Montgomery Police Department in Alabama, carrying her Chicago roots and a strong sense of justice as she protected and served her community.

Her senseless murder drives our mission at Tookie's Voice. Since 2021, we have channeled our grief into action, working tirelessly to prevent domestic violence and support survivors. We believe that building strong community partnerships and raising awareness can help spare other families the heartbreak we've endured.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Tookie's Voice carries forward my daughter's legacy of service and protection. We're creating lasting change in her memory through education, advocacy, and community engagement. Her light continues to shine through every life we touch and every person we help.

Will you join us in this vital work? We can honor Tookie's memory by creating meaningful change and preventing other families from experiencing this devastating loss. Your support helps us transform lives and build safer communities for all.
